Whole new territory.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sun, 2 Nov 2003 17:11:58 In Reply to: Saab Policy Change - Complimentary Service, JED, Sun, 2 Nov 2003 09:46:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Used to be 10k changes, but now 9-3SS' are a whole new ballgame with full synthetic and 6 quarts and a computer that measures the contributors to oil quality. So Saab's policy has had to change in response to new equipment and service requirements.
Used to be +/- 2k at 10, 20 and 30k was complimentary, but just had a guy who had only 6k after 12 months and Saab will service 2003 9-5's and convertibles by time not mileage, although the dealer has to get it authorized. 9-3SS' have time and mileage in the service computer so it's when the SID recommends, usually around 15k for normal driving, but I've seen 18k for a high mileage sales rep. Don't know what the threshold is for early changes, but as you pointed out, it's not 50% or so.
On non 9-3SS' I recommend that my low mileage customers get a "30K" before the 36 months is up, regardless of mileage. I would hope that would apply to low mileage 9-3SS drivers too. I'll ask.
