Some dealers "write back" their demos, that is they deduct a fee for the usage from the cost. Other dealers don't, their cost is the same for a demo as a brand new car. You have my permission to ask them if they have reduced the cost of the vehicle to reflect the miles, or are they just making you a better deal because it's a demo?
Lease companies figure excess mileage at rougly 20 cents a mile. That would make 5,000 miles worth $1,000. You cited the IRS amount of 37.5 cents a mile or $1,875.
Is a brand new car worth the difference? If we're talking a 2003 another vehicle that's new might not be an option.
It's case by case, but usually a demo is driven by someone fairly responsible, a manager, owner or the like.
Are these Arc's your looking at service loaners as opposed to demos? Service loaners can be an extra good buy as Saab gives the dealer something extra to encourage the service loaner program.
