Just out of curiosity, why are you worried about whether or not the top gear is overdrive. 4 speed autos usually have a 1:1 ratio for 4th and the 5 speed manuals found in front drive or rear engine cars usually have 2 overdrive gears, this is due to this being the most effective way to manufacture each type of transmission. It all works out to about the same in the end though as the final drive ratio for the 5 speed is 4.05 and for the auto, 2.86.
Overdrive used to signify a gear designed for low engine wear and high fuel economy but it really is a factor of the top gear multipled by the final drive ratio. You don't need an overdrive gear if you have a low final drive ratio to get the same effective gearing.
