I've had my '01 Viggen Convertible for 2 years, 2 months and have no regrets. It's the best car I've ever had.

I guess buying a used one, I would look out for the following:

1) Bent or scraped wheels, which would cause steering wheel vibration at speed. In the case of scraped or refurbished wheels, this is a sign the previous owner didn't take very good car of the car - same for door-dings etc. The stock rims are soft, so bending them in potholes is common. Not the driver's fault of course.

I assume the car would still have warranty left or might be certified pre-owned, so your worries are dimished in that case. Always to a Carfax to check its history.

2) My top is wearing in 2 small spots to the upper right section above the rear window (when looking at the car from the rear). Someone told me there's a TSB on this, but there's not for my year car. I'm still going to fight to have the dealer replace the top under warranty before it wears out in a couple years. I only have 22k on it now.

3) I had front-end popping noises that took 3 trips to dealer to fix. When test driving the car, back up while turning the wheel in one direction and then abruptly hit the breaks. If the front end makes a popping noise, then the bolts need to be retorqued. I've not had the problem since. There's a TSB on this, so dealers know about it.

I love the car and will keep it for SEVERAL more years. It's a blast and real head turner.
