So the rubber fitment or border or gasket that surrounds the body of the filter should be aligned to seal with the top of the box rather than the bottom. Sorry for displaying such ignorance but the damn owner's manual does not even address filter changes other than to identify the air filter box

HMMM, I guess I better recheck my work because I aligned the rubber filter gasket to mesh with the bottom of the T-5 box. The top box does not have intenral ridge or lip with which to align the filter's rubber gasket and the perimeter of the top box is wider than the bottom box's perimeter such that the top box slides down flush along the outside of the lower box's perimeter.

So my question is should I stuff the highly flexible rubbery filter gasket up into the top box or will the vacuum created by the air creat a sealed fit?

I already already took her out for run to the market and bank and I definitely noticed a reduction in lag at low rpms and a good deal more boost with RPMs over 2500. Top end acceleration was definitely boosted to the point where the triple digit speeds seem to happen with greater rapidity from normal highway cruising speed. With all the mods, the car is definitely feeling like a top end performance sedan. 60 to 110 seemingly happens a lot faster now and she handles with aplomb no matter the speed.

Why the hell did SAAB not spend an extra $500 on these cars and put in beefier rolls bars and better steering rack clamps along with a higher end air filter. By 01, they knew what the deficits were??? Come on the roll bar is a no brainer??!!
