My 2001 OK at 27K miles. Someone posted that these typicaly last 100K miles. Any supportive data or source for that statement would be very useful for this board and probably settle some nerves. I respectfully disagree that carrying a spare is acceptable and like a spare tire. Nobody that pays for a Saab should be expected to pay for a spare. Furthermore, this is not necessary for any other brand of car, as far as I know. Tires go flat usually for reasons that have nothing to do with the car and often nothing to do with the tire. That is in contrast to a known defective part. Depending on what data is out there, Saab / GM may be in trouble if DI failure is associated with serious accidents, much like Firestone with the SUV tires or Ford's Pinto situation back in the '70s.
