Have you followed the posts on the MBC+A?
Pull the plugs and see how they are. If PBCP6ES11's they should be quite clean. If 7ES, might be dark and fouled. Gaps ok? If in doubt, replace the plugs. Always read the plugs as your first step with any running problem.
Higher boost levels increase the voltage required to break down any given spark gap. If the gaps are excessive this may promote misfireing. And if a coil(s) in the DI were failing, these higher voltages then cause the the failed coil to further damage it self.
You did not list your miles. Older red DI's with lower miles can fail from age and typically will start to screw things up and not do the sudden death total failure thing. Perhaps this mod is the coils going. But we don't know that much about the DI internals as they fail.
Do do the plugs, Techron perhaps for good measure. And if you can find someone with a red or black DI who will let you try theirs for a while, that is good. If you have a lot of miles on your DI, it might be time to get a new one, and if that cures the problem, great, otherwise you have the spare that you really need anyways.
This does not sound like an octane/BPC issue as the engine trys to get on boost.
