Alot depends on year. If 2000 or newer, emgine management has changed to T-7. Keep in mind that the BPC replacement is around 250.00. If the BPV is bad, you can replace that with a stock Bosch for around $50.00. That could be your groaning. others have identified the sound as a honking or mooing sound. If that it is, the BPV is leaking, but that wouldn't produce higher boost, just honking or mooing sounds at around the rpms you stated. If the hose going to the WG is bad, which is not common, your boost will be too high. So, is your boost normal, high, or low when this happens? a MBC setup on a car that is '99 or earlier will bypass the BPC and yeild mafor boost gains, the SMBC setup will be less and won't solve the problem if the BPC is faulty.
