It's really a nice car. I'm guessing that this car was the base Arc with 16" wheels, balloon tires and standard suspension. The handling is great but without 17's and sport suspension a little soft for what I'm used to. Those would likely be a necessary addition for me. My only complaint was the behavior of the automatic and the fact that it now lacks a "Sport" mode. You do have the option of manual shifting, but it still doesn't offer the control of the engine you'd have with a stick. My friend Bobby apparently got his wife's Arc auto tranny reprogrammed (or got a software update) and it fixed some of the sluggishness. I'd drive both a stick and an auto.
I'm not a convertible kind of guy but couldn't refuse when it was offered as a loaner. The visibilty is of course great if the top is down but, compared to a hard top inferior when the top is up. The mechanism for lowering and raising the top are cool and definitely fast.
I think if I were in the market for a 9-3SS it would be an Arc hardtop with 17" wheels and sport suspension. I'd have to drive an Aero to be convinced that it's worth the extra money, and having had a Viggen for a while now I'm not sure I'll return to the all-out peformance car again for various reasons.
I can't comment on the Aero vs Arc.
