Frozen or broken antenna?

Here in KC we got about 4-6 inches of snow last night, and it's around 27-degrees.
2000 9-3 SE was garaged all night, came out this morning & left for work. Radio on and all is fine. Stopped for coffee, and the antenna does NOT fully retract; left about 6" out. Came out with coffee, started engine/radio, antenna would not fully raise; about 1 full section not raised.
Parked the car outside at my office where it's MUCH colder, went out at lunch and the antenna works fine. What gives?
My factory warranty will run out in about 6k miles and I'm wondering if this is something I should have looked at before it expires. Thoughts?
