I agree with some thoughts / disagree with others.

1. Many Saab owners complain about the torque curve of the WRX, but I personally find it more than sufficient. Different motor w/ different characteristics, not necessarily a bad thing. The one thing I wish they included was the 6-speed from the STI. The 300hp motor is not realistic in this price segement, but the six-speed would keep the motor in the power band
2. I agree, much better looking. Could have done more to differentiate the interior though. Doesn't follow current Saab design themes
3. 16" wheels on Aero are a disappointment aesthetically, but shouldn't hamper perpormance. The WRX on 16" wheels is a great performer - will out handle any current / past Saab (everyone can start throwing the daggers now)
4. Agree with the pricing - not enough of a difference to warrant the minor differnce over a WRX (unless insurance premiums are less)
5. Can't imagine many people on this board will consider the base model, but I agree
6. Nothing will ever compare to the Cimmaron . . . a POS Cavalier w/ leather
7. GM may be insulting us, but the general public must be a bunch of dopes because they sure sell a ton of Escalades
8. Not a Tahoe / Sierra but Saab 9-7 = Envoy
9. This may be true, but in my opinion the WRX is one of the best values on the market today - regardless of price segment.

There is a lot of bad sentiment about the Saab 9-2, but I am personally excited about it. The Impreza / WRX have achieved iconic status in Europe for a reason - it is an awesome car. No Saab has ever been included in this group (i.e 911, Mini, Lancia Delta, Mitsu Evo, Elise, etc. - and throw some more daggers now). The SPG, Viggen, etc. are great cars but have never been included in this rarefied club. This is even more impressive considering that Europe as a whole has far better cars to choose from than the States. If it looks appreciably better on the ouside, somewhat better on the inside, and priced accordingly - I will give it a hard look. Cheers.
