9-3SS Oil Level too High? What is the impact?

I checked my 9-3SS oil today because I have reached 13k miles and I've had no Service message come up yet (still says 25% left). Anyway, I went to check it (cold engine), and the dipstick read OVER the Max. Fill line (not just borderline either, it was clearly overfilled)!!! I have never topped off the oil, and to be honest, I've left the checking in the hands of the dealer until now (heck I've been in for 4 different issues), so there is no way I can tell if someone topped it off at the dealer, or if it has been this way since day 1! My question is: If it has been overfilled since day 1, is there some kind of serious engine damage that could be taking place now, and If so, should I be looking to drain the oil immediately? (Could I take some out just by running the car then changing the filter, assuming some oil comes out with the old filter?
I Appreciate anyones inputs on this.
