winter floor mats

I have an 00 9-3 with beige upholstery. When I got the car this summer, one of the first things I did was get the rugged, gray all-weather floor mats. Now we're in the salt-and-slush season, I wouldn't mind something that provides greater protection to this delicate looking interior.
Do the SAAB rubber mats cover a greater surface area than the all-weather mats? I'd especially like to protect the sides of the floor next to the dead and gas peddles. Good alternatives to the SAAB mats?
Thanks again. - Tom
