I was picking up my 1999 9-3 from service today. It has 76,000 miles on it so of course there was no warranty to cover my ac compressor going bad. While in the showroom, I spotted a blue 2000 9-3 outside. I walked up to it, just wondering how much it was, but there was no sticker. The sales man actually took interst in me (being 21, the cadillac and saab sales people don't usually think I'm an up). He was all, can I help you with anything, and I asked for the price tag on the 2000. He didn't tell, me but instead took the key out of his pocket and let me test drive it. I explained that I can't really drive stick all that well and he was totally cool. So, after falling in love with a car nearly identical to mine (save that it was stick! and has 50k less miles) he gave me the bad news. He was all, "it's only 18k!" Ok, now I'm young, but I am not stupid by any means. He then proceded to appraise my car at 4100 bux! now, I've been looking for a 2000 in stick for about 2 years now, so I know how much they're supposed to cost. He gave me over to his manager, and I told the manager that the car was worth no more than 11k. The manager actually yelled at me and said that he would sell it at auction for more than that. I then told him that he would get about 5600 for it at auction. He yelled at me about telling him how much his car was worth then asked me if Iw anted to look at the book with the values in it. After turning to the page, he got mad and literally threw it to the side. I was pissed. My family has spent literally over 200,000 dollars in cars at this dealer since the early 80's and we demanded a little more respect than that. So, I went to the actual sales rep my family dealt with for the past few years and talked to him. He took the case to the GM, and he agreed that he would lower the price of the car to 11000 for me by giving me almost 9k for my trade! So, all in all, my father decided that the 8% interest they wanted to charge me was a little high, and is buying the car tomorrow in cash! I'm paying him back at 2%. wow, so excited........ sorry, really long post.
