Narrow tire will not give more power, it will reduce drag have less rolling resistance and also they are lighter necessitating less torque to move. So unless the narrow tire is completely unsuitable for the power of the car, i.e. it spins easily under acceleration or slides and rolls hard under hard cornering then you will be in general faster with the narrow tire. On a 900 N/A 225 tire will be an overkill. I found that the Kuhmo 712, 225/50/16 tires are usually narrower then equivalently more expensive brands so they may be a good alternative. If you put anything else in there you may have rubbing issues. Use Kuhmo only on dry tarmaq and with the correct (highish) tire pressure and they are fine. On wet surface though they understeer a lot a loose grip very easily.
