Today I changed the manual transmission fluid in my '01 9-3 SE to MTF0063. All went well, except for one glitch.

I followed the GenuineSaab instructions which call for 2 'rinses' of MTF with 20 sec of no-load running in first gear for each rinse. The front of the car was up on axle stands and both wheels were off (I also did the serpentine belt and pulleys).

The ABS, TCS and ! lights came on and stayed on during the first rinse. Would not clear by restarting the car. The lights stayed on when I was backing out of the driveway after the fluid change was complete, but then cleared as soon as I started forward motion.

I guess it makes sense that the ABS/TCS computer would have trouble reconciling stationary rear wheels with revolving front wheels. Maybe it interpreted the no-load running (not even the weight of wheels) as zero traction.

Other notes:
-- The filler plug on car was an 8mm hex (allen) key, not the 15 or 22mm hex head bolt reported by others. It opened easily with an 8mm hex key socket, a couple of long extensions, and a breaker bar.
-- check and drain plugs were 8mm. Opened the drain plug easily using the same tool as the filler. For the drain plug I used a long handle 8 mm allen key, and a smaller breaker.

Overall very easy and fast, just a bit messy.
