Hey folks,
having driven all three - I can't imagine a more motely group to compare - all great cars - but oh so different. I am always struck by the fact that any different car feels faster - percieved acceleration is about surprises and change - so the more unfamiliar a car is the more "quick" it feels. I remember switching from my 3-series BMW to the '01 Audi tt (225hp six-speed). The Audi felt devilishly quick becasue of the non-linear power curve - but in fact the BMW would eat its lunch.
Although the new S2000 is torquier, previous models were a snooze below 5000 rpm - then all hell breaks loose (my Preludes were the same way - very entertaining and a hoot to drive through the twisties). I found the S60 w/300hp to be a real sled - fast - but heavy and very overdamped by all of the car control gadgets. Anyway, acceleration is not what these cars are about - they provide such great balance for their intended purpose. If you want to drage race, get a late '80's GNX for $8K - put a loud pipe and Nitrous and mark kills at the light - glad i grew out of that!
Best to all
eric
