I don't know -- I have a 99 VIggen that is highly mechanically sound. The Viggen is a great car with solid reliability no matter what the year. As with any high performance car its best to check into the care done by the previous owner. Look for bent rims (shimmys and vibrations) and service history on the car. Mobil One or synthetic oil changes every 5K would be best.
The main diff in 01-02 is traction control and integrated key...not much else. Personally I like not having the TCS. I love my 99 and would not hesitate buying any year Viggen if mine were to have something happen to it.
