'99 base 9-3: Switch to syntheic oil OK?

Hi,
My service rep at the dealership told me full synthetic oil was not recommended for my car. My understanding is that the '99s shipped with and are serviced with semi-synthetic oil. The conversation was a brief one on my way out so, didn't follow-up with a question on why it was not "recommended."
Any reason why doing my next change with Mobile 1 would cause problems? I can't see how it would but, I'm not an engineer.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
Rob
