I run Techron through every other month. I did regap correctly, and changed the FF in August, no relation to low idle problem.

From what you say, It sounds like there is no high idle. The car is supposed to start and stay at a low idle. Since this is my first winter with the car I was just not sure what to expect.

I guess I will keep running High octance with Techron through to keep things smooth.

BTW I am coming up on my second Oil change. The first time I put CASTROL 10-40W because I like the High heat factor. I also used a Fram filter with the teflon additive. Is that OK.

I do run Synthetic in my 944, but that gets driven so little and only needs changing every two summers.
