One good thing about having two Saabs is you always have a reference for how things should look. While I was changing my serp belt today I noticed the circular aluminum plug at the driverside front just below the valve cover was MISSING and oil was visible in the hole in an otherwise clean and dry engine. So this apparatus must have just FALLEN OFF recently? I took a quick look at my 94 and it is there and intact. My guess is this is where the distrubutor would be mounted on a base model car and it is plugged for the cars with DI. It looks like there are three tapped bolt holes, possibly for a retaining bracket that once held this on.
What am I missing and do any of our sponsors sell these parts? No one has worked on this car but me and I never noticed this before, I am sure there should be a plug and a retaining bracket there. Can one of you look at your 00-02 9-3 and tell me what is supposed to be there. Thanks a lot. I will not drive it like this as I would imagine oil would be everywhere. This happened to any of you? Maybe everyone should check these bolts for tightness.
