I previously wrote about an overboost problem. The turbo boost gauge would reach into the red and I would experience fuel cut off on my 1999 9-3. As all the hoses were in good shape, I unplugged the BPC. The boost was still at overboost. I expected that with the BPC unhooked, I would get low boost pressure if it was defective, but instead I continued to get high boost. I checked the WGA and it moves like it is supposed to, so I don't think that that is it. Next, I plugged the compressor hose into the wastegate. Took the car for a vigorous drive. The boost would go to the mid-way of the yellow on the gauge, but no further. This leads me to believe that the problem is in the BPC.
Does this sound accurate? Will a defective BPC give an overboost problem? It sounded from reading different posts that this was unlikely.
Thanks for your comments.
