Some smoke has to be expected. The turbo has to withstand some extreme temperature swings. Before you park the car for the night, do you drive it real nice for the last 5 minutes or so? If not, the exhaust side of the turbo could let a little oil by the seals while sitting and cooling off.
Before my 2001 Viggen, I had 2000 9-3 base that had this same problem. I don't think it started doing it until about 10k, but it happened off and on all the way through 60k, when I sold it. I could pretty much guarantee a smoke-filled startup if I drove it fast before parking it for the night. Now, the two turbos are different on those models, but I think the scenario is still the same...
How much do you have left on the warranty? What are your driving habits and also what temperatures do you have there where you live?
I'm thinking you should not worry too much until you get close to the warranty expiration. My experience has been that the dealer and the customer get along better at that point. The dealer will have to agree with your concerns about future failure. If you force the issue before that point, they will just think you're being a jerk. I know my dealer and I had a very difficult relationship once I forced an issue with my 2000 9-3. After that, every conversation was strained and I wish I could have taken it all back and started over...
