I've read about the DI cassette problems on Saabnet, and my question is whether newer units are less likely to fail than older ones? Or, to put it another way, is the problem a bad batch of DI units that were manufactured, vs. an inherent design flaw in the DI, such that brand new ones would also have the same chance of crapping out? Anybody know? Has anybody bought a new replacement DI from a Saab dealer and had the new one die?
(I've got a 2000 9-3 with 60K miles, and the original still DI works fine.)
