Headlamp problems related to bad DI cassette ?

Re: 1999 9-3 SE, w/70k. Recently my driver's side highbeam function failed-replaced bulb-no change-then car self corrects (blue dash indicator also failed to come on until it self-corrected). Car works fine for weeks--then--passenger side low beam fails--then quickly self corrects--then driver's side high beam once again does the same thing, then it self corrects. SID also indicated headlamp failure each time, then went away when car self-corrected.
Since then, my DI cassette went bad (and took the catalytic converter with it--thank goodness for 80k emissions system warranty that covered the $1,700 part !) Dealership diagnostics showed nothing wrong with headlamp function, even prior to replacing the DI. The problem has not recured since, but I know what I saw.
Is it possible that the DI cassette, while in the process of going bad, could have caused the headlamp gremlins ? I don't want to get stuck somewhere at night if the issue remains unresolved, but I'm out of ideas.
Suggestions ?
