Front end noise when outside cold

I have posted a massage about my front making creaking noise (1999 Saab 93 at 103000 miles) when outside temp goes below 40 F. The general response was bad sway bar bushings. I have taken the car to my local mechanic (not a Saab specialist), he put the car on the lift and checked all the links by torqueing them with a big screwdriver. He said the sway bar bushings were holding tight and firm, but instead found control arm bushings had a lot of slack and told me to order control arm urethane bushing kit. How does this sound to you???
Question: Does the sway bar bushing links appearing to be firm is enough evidence that they are OK, or would their being just a little worn off cause all that noise?
Are control arm bushings having more movement than the rest of the links???
I have purchased parts from the saabsite in the past was happy with the service, but I see that everybody is referring to eEuroparts. Any comments???
All your responses are welcome.
Thanks all..
