and you don't care to save the old stock one, the easiest way to deal with and you don't want to save the old one, it is quickest to cut it off from the top. There are ways to get it off without doing damage to it, but just depends how much effort you want to put into it. Once you break the epoxy seal, the knob, gaiter and plastic reverse lock will all come off. Then the trick is to get the reverse lock out of the knob. It can be done, but takes a bunch of time and effort. I used some throw away thin feeler gauges to push back the plastic tabs and then pulled the knob off the reverse lock.
Cutting the old one will take 2 minutes and getting the new knob on with new epoxy will take another ten minutes.
