A happy Saab story

Just thought I would share a little holiday story -- a few weeks ago I went out on a limb and bought an 01 9-3 SE Convertible with 51K from a used car lot in Nashville that specializes in convertibles. The limb-climbing part is that I've never owned a Saab (our other car is a 03 Volvo XC70, so we know the Swedes a bit) and this one came with no manual, no maintenance records and the odd buzzing from the ACC unit. Everytime I drove the car I thought, "Okay, what's going to go wrong with it..." I posted on this BB, asking for advice on the buzzing -- wonderful bunch of people here. So here's the good new (in a series): the dealer sent me, at no charge, a new ACC fan unit and he talked me through the process of switching the units on the phone. No more buzzing after the car is turned off. While figuring out how to fold down the rear seats I found an envelope with the previous owner's name on it. I Googled the name and got an email address. I emailed her and she tells me that she owned the car, took excellent car of it -- only traded it in to buy an new 04 Saab. She's sending me the maintenance records -- she's a lovely person, just lovely. THEN, I poked the On-Star button on the dash to see what's up with that and in the process of talking to the On-Star person, we discover that the previous owner never used the service, so the car still has one full year of FREE On-Star. Took 5 minutes to set up the account, plus I get a bunch of free cell phone time as well...
And yes, I'm fully aware that I've probably jinxed myself, but what the heck...
Happy Holidays
Pat
