Drove to the movies tonight in 7 degree weather (central Massachusetts). I'm used to the suspension noise at those temps... I've actually grown to like it a little, and miss it in other cars. But tonight the fan began making noise as well. That's only happened once before, also in the extreme cold. I put the fan on "4", the highest setting, the noise eventually worked itself out as the car warmed. Not sure what setting I had it on the rest of the way to the theater, but it was quiet enough to hear my friend's ipod and still converse over it. Definitely not on 4. On the way back, though, the fan would only work on 4. All other settings, absolutely nothing, no matter which direction the air was being directed. What gives?

Came back and checked the board. I read about the issues people have had with a corroded switch adjacent to the cabin filter, but it was unclear if that was ACC-related, or if base models could be affected as well. Also, I read about a short in the actual control dial, but that seemed to cause problems primarily after shutoff or complete lack of fan entirely. Any ideas (especially ones that suggest that all it needs is a little warmth) would be greatly appreciated.
