Simple ratchet and socket needed. We are talking about the '02 right? The dealer tells me "ah just put dextron III in" I flushed and put Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF. I know it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the 'Official Saab' stuff. The Dextron comment made sense to me since it is a GM car nw, pretty standard. I wanted the increased protection/mileage of the synthetic. I know some guys like the Redline or 'new' Saab tranny fluid, I couldn't justify a flush with $10 or $20 a quart fluid. There is supposedly a "fill to" plug on the side of the tranny (I couldn't find it). I pulled the top plug and bottom out. 13-15 MM I think.Replace the bottom plug.Fill 'er up. Maybe larger it's been a while. Let it all drain and then fill to level indicated by manual (1 1/2 quart something like that). Really the only problems I had were a REALLY tight lower plug and running a hose/funnel to the top of the tranny. I have 80k on my 2000 SE and the fluid got changed at 64k . No problems. Good luck. Not difficult, but everyone has their $.02 on fluids....
