I know that the manual says every 7,500 miles for oil changes. Why is it my dealership continues to want me back every 3,000 miles, and in the current case, in 2,600 miles because it rounds to a nice number = 38k? It's rhetorical question because I know it's all about $$$. A co-worker with a 3-series has 15k intervals (synthetic oil) at his dealership and he pays about $140 per change. That is still a lot cheaper than my equivalent 5 oil changes at $40 apiece. Has anyone experienced similar situations with their dealerships regarding "unnecessary" oil changes in relation to the 7,500 interval? I would gladly pay for synthetic if I could go longer than 3k miles.
