Hello all,
Lately my car does not like to start. It has 152k miles and it is almost 10 years old. Here is what it does. It does not start when it is hot. The starter motor will engage and keep trying to fire. When it is cold, it will start but very hard. It'll start turning over and just not do it like it used to, but it will turn over. I was able to drive it to a friend's house the other day and it made it. The engine did not hesitate and it did not perform lousy. Today, when I got home I tried to start it. It was 100 degrees outside and it just would not start. It made it up to 1,000 rpms and then died. Here is what I have done. I have cleaned the cap and rotor. The distributor is 75k miles old. I changed the plugs today. I inspected for vacuum leaks and I did not find any loose hoses. I checked my air filter which is a K&N and it was clean. The spark plug wires are just about 60k miles old which I plan on replacing shortly. The battery is also new at only 20k miles old and it was also tested. There are no dim lights or check engine lights once the car is on. My uncle thinks it may be my thermostat. Personally, I believe it may be my HT coil. But, I really don't know. What do you guys think? Now that I am out of school, I really need my car for work. Thanks all.
