OK, now I've read them. (If we can't mention the actual name of the site, I hope we're talking about the same one...) Mark E & Andy M talk about taking off the case with the rubber boots, & cleaning it. I didn't see anything about repair of components within the cassette. Keeping it clean to prevent arcing is good. That's what I've done to distributor caps all along. When I changed plugs in the 9³ the only part that was dirty was out at the open ends of the boots, easy to wipe off.
I agree that oil-cooling works, it's a pretty standard thing. But I guess I thought it wasn't the coils that failed. It was the other components, potted in epoxy or whatever, in that one picture by Mark E. Now I'm not sure why I thought that way. I wonder what parts of the DI cassette actually fail?
