I suppose that's a pretty flip answer, but I wouldn't change calipers on any kind of schedule. Whenever you change brake pads, you inspect the calipers & rotors. In fact, you inspect the brakes every 10k miles according to my owner's manual.
The rotors wear down, so you can measure their thickness. The calipers have slide pins & handbrake mechanisms, you make sure all that stuff works nicely. The rubber brake hoses can show signs of deterioration, so you can replace those too.
If the rotors are grooved or messed up, you have to decide whether to re-surface them vs. buy new ones. Just the same with calipers; you can decide whether to rebuild them vs. buy new ones.
