I put my mods to a 2002 9-3 SE Convertible into 2 categories and here’s my subjective ratings:

Engine
1. Stage 2 ECU (easy way to get real HP gain, but I waited until I improved suspension) cost about $800. It's easy DIY.
2. 3” delivery pipe (Speedparts) with Cat and 2-1/2” cat back (SAAB) - big time improvement in spool up. Costs about $700. Recommend a good muffler shop do the work because some tweaking is required. It's a tight fit.
3. Abbott Turbo Inlet Pipe - not as dramatic as downpipe but helps at higher rpm/speed
4. Forge Stubby BPV - works well but not a big improvement over a working Bosch BPV
5. K&N Filter

Chassis/Suspension
1. KIC Steering Brace - best single mod to improve control
2. Custom made six point subframe brace - this brace connects the subframe at 6 points instead of 2 points. I bought the MP Performance subframe brace and my mechanic (who’s an Ace welder wanted to make it better) wanted to improve it by adding four more support rods. He did! I don’t know how much this helps a hard top but it completely killed cowl shake and the last remnants of torque steer on my convertible. This is a Great Mod for a convertible. Makes my 2002 comparable to a 2004 from a cowl shake perspective. Surprisingly, improved comfort on rough roads too.
3. Eibach Pro-System - huge improvement in control with a nominal loss of comfort would probably rate this as the number one improvement, but the two items highr resolve deign deficiencies and that's why I put them ahead. I got the Eibach system for $540 and paid about $200 for install. Not an easy DIY.
4. 24 cm sway bar - helps the backend considerably. Cost $100 from GenuineSAAB.com. Easy DIY.
5. Poly bushings - have done all in front and rear. Tightens up everything.
6. Goodyear Eagle F1 D3 tires 215/45 - 17. Grip as well as the Pole 3’s but much more comfortable and better in the rain. Best tire I’ve ever used.
7. Abbott Support Frame Bearings - expensive but a noticable improvement over polys and a big improvement over OEM bush. One hour DIY.
9. Zimmerman Cross Drilled Rotors - good performance at a good price. Look cool too!
10. EBC Green Pads (front) - Good performance without much dust.
