I have a '99 9-3 base and mine went at about 62K miles. The pulley popped off and the belt shredded. It was a very disheartening sound and feeling. I lost power steering and the engine temp immediately rose. It happened in January and it was a very cold winter here in Vermont, I think that definetly hastened the failure. From what I have read on this BB it was a definite problem with the NG900's and '99's, not sure about later years. It looks like a pretty easy DIY and there are some good instructions on this BB, so it might be worth getting a spare or just replacing it now.
