use a feeler-type gauge (available at any hardware or auto parts store - ask the clerk) and insert between the tip of the electrode and the J-shaped metal tongue. Use the accessory that comes with the gap gauge to adjust if necessary (essentially bending the J-hook up or down). There's only one place to put the feeler gauge, so you'll quickly figure it out.
Careful when putting the plugs back...The ceramic coating is brittle, and you don't want to damage it. Be cautious on the first one, and you'll quickly get the hang of it.
If I can adjust plug gap, anyone can.
Things I encountered along the way: disconnecting the DI is a bit of a pain (particularly in the cold when the plastic is brittle). You don't have to disconnect it to get the plugs out...the cable is long enough that you can simply rest it on the engine cover while messing with the plugs. Also, try to keep dust and debris from falling into the spark plug hole. Could be a costly fix if you drop a screw or something in there.
I'm sure someone will chime in with a Loctite recommendation shortly as well as some dielectric grease application advice, but I didn't encounter any of these when I took my plugs out, so I was somewhat weary to put anything in. I'm a bad Saab owner, I know.
Cheers, and enjoy your DIY project!
