3" Duct Mod flare followup

The original discussion took place on the NG900 BB when someone there had used a speaker tube with a nice flare on the end to make the 3" duct for his airbox. I had originally done the airbox mod about 8 months ago when I added a 3" to 4" reducer bell on the end of it. The noise increased which I had attributed to the larger duct sucking more air. Actually by having the long blunt bell on the end, what I found out after cutting the bell off was that the extra 2 inches on the bell instead of a flared end actually was causing turbulance and that was what I was hearing. I cut off the extra few inches off the bell, sanded the curve into the duct and sanded a flare out. The result is a quieter intake and seemingly faster spool. It's amazing to think that 2 extra inches of material made that much of a difference, but then again, its hard to believe a little grinding and porting of the TBTC can make such a difference either. Picture is attached of the final product.
