ABS warning light & brake lights

Hello. I've done several searches in the 9-3 board hooping to find previous messages with info. about this, and found one posted message from March 2002, but no replies. So, I'll bring it up again.
This morning when I started up my 2000 9-3 the ABS warning light came on as well as the brake light. They stayed on for the duration of my short (1.5 miles) ride to work. The brakes appeared to be working fine. What I noticed also, upon starting the car was that my SID was telling me my service was due (40k) although I'm only at like 38k. Seemed odd that that would come up along with the brake lights. (Coincidence?)
I have an appointment with my dealer but not until Monday (its under warranty) Tomorrow, my non-warranty mechanic/Saab Specialist is going to pull the code out of the car just to see what might be going on.
The dealer says it just means that I don't have ABS just regular brakes.
For the rest of the day today, anytime I've started up my car and while driving it, no lights came on. I checked all the bulbs, they work, I checked the brake fluid level, it's max. The brakes were done when I bought the car in May. I've only put about 7k miles on it since.
Any info. would be most appreciated!
Happy New Year
