Thanks for the advice Anders. I'm diving into the cylinder heads tomorrow (after I track down the Snap-on guy who I missed today). Didn't consider the pins on the ends of the cam shafts so will pay close attention to them. Also, did hear about a potential issue with damaged pistons messing up the top ring and potentially the cylinder bore.
Reckon any issue found there and it will be better to order either a replacement engine (3.0L is nearby from a 9000) or one of the Cadillac CTS engines (3.2L) new in the crate. Remember you had some hesitations about the fuel injection properly adapting. Fears allayed or confirmed? Heard the Motoronic was widely adapable but that may be salesmanship and a healthy dose of buyer beware should enter in.
Great education so far. Thanks for being there to help out a newbie: at least on the v6. This is Saab #6 for me. You'd think I'd learn something over the years!
