Symtoms: slight drop in coolant level from time to time, never enough to trip the sensor, but several drips are found on my garage floor in the morning. Car has NEVER over heated, and runs excellent.
Took it to a trusted mechanic and was told it was a water pump but his Saab guy no longers works for him and so i took it to local saab repair guy who as an impecable reputaion. He replaced the water pump and said that even though he found no visable drips ( it was not leaking on the day he serviced it)...he did say that there was evidence in the weep holes that the pump was leaking. A full week went by and not a drop...I was a very happy guy.
Then I saw a drips for 3 straight days and called him back to tell him this, and was told that he was going into the hospital this week for surgery...so I went back to the first guy today and he is NOW saying its the heater core.......
My question is "what would you guys do?" I am tempted to throw some stop leak in it and see what happens. i would replace the heater core tomorrow if I KNEW that would solve the problem. But my faith is not there after the water pump didn't solve it.
