Thanks for all who helped with the infinity basslink install and rear window fix. Details below.
Spent 6 hours+ over the weekend fixing all this stuff and more, then someone smashed into my rear left taillight overnight - no note. Any idea where the best place to buy a rear taillight assembly for a 99 9-3 is?
Basslink (powered sub):
hardest part was getting the power through the firewall. Ended up going out the rubber gasket in the driver door and then up into the hood through a slot in the frame. Got both rear speakers and the front left speaker hooked up before I ran out of light. Works well enough now, will need to add the front right speaker when it gets warm again (snowing out here in Colorado right now). Has Infinity 3 ways 6x9s in rear, Infinity components in the front (woofers in door, tweeters on dash) and Infinity basslink sub in trunk. Still not a super loud system, but sounds great all running off of the stock head unit. Very happy with the stereo. Bough the basslink and the components new off ebay and the rear 6x9s used off ebay for a total of about $350 shipped. Well worth it. Forgot to replace the inside rubber gasket at the door, however, so I'll be taking the dash apart to reinstall that sometime soon.
Rear window: removed the door insides and foudn that the white plastic tab that slides on the track to raise/lower the window had broken. Ended up just putting the metal rivet that is connected to the aluminum track at the bottom of the window (and is supposed to be kept in place with the white plastic tab) back in place and ziptieing it together. Works well so far - knock on wood.
Also replaced a front headlight, vacumned the car, filled up fluids, etc, and thought I had it all worked out a running great when the bastard slammed my taillight without leaving a note. hen I got in the car this morning, I thought it was ironic that I had jsut fixed it all up and there was a new rear taillight out message - then I go tto work and saw the srapnel and realized what happened. Depressing.
