Funny-- I've experienced all but the head gasket and now I'm paranoid 8-o
I kinda knew that moaning sound when I launched was the throwout bearing. Glad to hear it's just a noise and won't imminently break.
What's the fix for the missing "lines" in the SID? I suspect, if it's a typical LCD, one has to take the display off its mount, gently clean the contacts and re-seat the display. Am I off here?
DI module went year before last. Big bux. Who's got the best price on replacements?
Heater controls were done under warranty. The knob came off in my hand but it was ALWAYS stiff before that, so if the car you're looking at feels a little stiff now, get them to fix it before buying as it's not cheap.
I can add:
A couple of pinholes in the radiator (Bar's Leak seems to have cured that one) and seized rear calipers.
Watch your rear brakes-- apparently the caliper can freeze in its holder, preventing it from sliding and doing its job. It's easy to clean out the rust and lube it but if you go too long (as I did) you'll be replacing the rotors after they get rusty.
I had to replace the rear shocks last summer but the fronts seem to be still okay. The rears are a 1-hour DIY job.
Under warranty, I had a replacement of the infamous "hoot valve" or whatever its equivalent is on the newer cars. Symptoms were alternately low boost or wild overboost with jerking (waste-gate kicking in?).
I still love the car. With 82000 miles on it, it still runs and feels nice.
