I temporarily had one of the "Speedparts" intake kits (curved tube, heat shield and JR cone filter) on my '96 900SET. After a few days, I pulled it out and sold it because the curved pipe pressed on the passenger side headlight adjustment knob (protruding from the rear of the H: assembly). Within the limited "play" in how it fit into the three mounting points for the original airbox, and the attachment point for the tube on the heat shield, I couldn't get it to ride free of that knob. So I ended up doing the flared-tube 3" airbox mod instead, and have been pretty happy.
Not long after that, I noticed that the internal adjustment mechanism of the headlight was broken. Probably beaten to death by the intake tube. Not cheap.
If yours clears the headlight assembly, it should definitely be preferable to the one I had.
