A new DI could suffer infant mortality. Sounds like you were missing and the O2 sensors detected high O2 in the exhaust. The CAT then has to eat that and that can destroy the CAT if ignored.
Pull the plugs and read them yourself. Their condition may suggest something. Fouled plugs will create the problem that you describe as the spark tracks over carboned insulators as the boost increases. If the plugs were the right ones and newer, then they may have been oil fouled by the old turbo, or perhaps the new turbo if it has problems. Check your oil level to detect any oil losses.
You have a T5, so a leak in the turbo ducting will not make miture go bad or trigger a CEL.. on a T7 it would.
A turbo duct leak will reduce boost, but not create any running problems other than the feeling that it has reduced power.
