I didn't perform it myself...I should have clarified that better. What I meant was, I took it to my independent Saab mechanic, and had them do it...to the tune of $300.00! So...I would like my money back, since Saab is aware of this problem.
I find it almost criminal that Saab is trying to minimize this. While it certainly won't cause occupant harm like the firestone/ford fiasco; it continues to amaze me that following that "revelation", companies still try to hide their mistakes so they can minimize their financial responsibilities. If they stonewall me, I might just visit a lawyer and see if we can't help all the 9-3 owners who were affected.
I am not up on the specifics of when certain engines were manufactured or what years they were used. Besides Saabs admission in it's TSB concerning the B205/235 engine, would it be safe to assume that the 1995 through 2003 had essentially the same engine? And therefore could experience the same head bolt problem?
Lastly, does re-torquing the bolts completely solve the problem...or must I now keep a close eye on my engine block and wait for the oil seepage to return?
