Had the oil changed last night in my 99 9-3 and was told by the mechanic that the shop that worked on the car last time has hopelessly stripped the drain plug hole and welded a piggy back drain plug in to replace it which is a temporary fix at best. I should have known this since I had to take it back to that shop three times to have the leak stopped. I noticed the leak started again as the weather turned cold but wanted to wait till the next oil change to get it fixed. Not a bad leak, just small drips.
The company that changed the oil both times is a national chain (I won't name them here to avoid liability problems) but its pretty obvious to me that the pan is beyond repair and needs to be replaced. The manager of the shop I went to gave me the name of his district supervisor (who has not returned my call yet today) Question is: has anyone had this kind of experience, what was the outcome, and how many hoops did you have to jump through to get a resolution? Also, does anyone know what an average part cost for a standard 9-3 pan is?
Thanks for any input!
