Well, what a story this turned out to be.
First, KUDOS to Thoroughbred Saab in Nashville TN, they did an aoutstanding job, were direct, honest and took great care of me.
I posted a few messages here a week or so ago regarding some oil leaks. Turned out to be the PCV vent problem. I had made an APPT with the dealer and planned to take it to them last FRiday. However, on Wednesday morning, my check engine light came on. Upon inspection, the following was replaced: Throttle Body, PCV campaign, new vaccum hoses and some other stuff involved. New DI Cassette/plugs, etc.
They also changed out my Hood emblem and replaced the alarm LED that had burned out. I guess the computer showed a bad throttle body as well as the DI cassette. I am happy about these replacements as the car is approaching 50K and thus the end of warranty. They also gave the car a once over and had it detailed. All this plus a no hassle rental all made me a very happy customer.
Hopefully, I will get another 50K without any problems. I have to say that I believe the throttlebody failure had to do with the vent/oil leak, but the DI cassette is a mystery. Hopefully that is it for a while.
As soon as the warranty is up, I plan to upgrade the stock airbox/filter, some of the turbo plumbing, add the rear sway bar, front rack brace, and maybe the ECU.
Just a thought, the tech said that teh plugs looked damaged. I've been using regular octane fuel, any thoughts on whether cars that use regular (87 octane) have a higher DI failure?? i.e. more or higher chance of preignition/heat in plug? I know the computers are supposed to cut back timing to accomdate lower octane fuels, but this is just a thought.
