Well, I made it. With 8k left on my extended warranty (63k miles total), I am taking the car in tomorrow for what I believe will be a head gasket replacement and a new DI cassette.

Not joking. It is leaking coolant badly at the front right corner of the block, and I am overcome with camshaft sensor errors. From what I have gathered here, that means new gasket and a new DI (or soon after when it quits.)

That completes my share of the usual 9-3 problems, including SID display failure and fix, sub-frame tightening, broken heater knob, silicon spray to sway bar bushings and many other little things.

I don't know what to expect from now on though... all of these have been predicted and occurred then repaired. It is a whole new world now...

I will post back on how it goes, but in a tongue in cheek way, I want to thank everyone on this board for being so right about these problems. They really seem to crop up on all the cars. Mine is a 99 9-3.
