The extended warranty that I was referring to was actually part of the Saab Certified warranty (i.e., 6 years from original registration/100,000 miles). To your point, I was at a dealership recently and they did have a separate warranty program (I believe it was "OneWorld") whereby one could, as you state, select from various options (e.g., number of years, miles of coverage, etc.) to build a personalized warranty program. However, the full coverage option specified by this program was, if memory serves me, approximately $1,100 more than the Saab Certified extended warranty.
At the risk of belaboring a point, your comment that "you could probably get a Certified Saab from a private party if they themselves purchased it from a dealer Certified already". Does that therefore mean that I could ask an individual that I was planning to purchase a car from to buy the extended warranty and thereby transfer it to me upon completion of the sale? I realize that this condition of sale may not be well received but, fundamentally, could a private seller transfer an extended Saab Certified warranty?
I went to the Saab corporate site as you suggested but the information was not particularly informative. I'll take the guidance offered in the footer of http://www.saabusa.com/saabjsp/certified/ and "Call 1 800 SAAB USA for important details and exclusions of the Saab Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty Program".
Thanks again,
Anthony
